DISCONTINUED COLORBOND COLOURS
Recently Colorbond decided to upgrade the colour range for its steel products.
Colorbond led an extensive consultation process with more than 170 Australian building industry professionals.
The resulting colour range modification is the largest revision of the Colorbond scheme in some 20 years.
The idea was to bring the colour scheme more into line with modern Australian aesthetics but it has in the process created a dilemma for many home and property owners.
When an existing property suffers storm, fire or other damage replacing only the damaged steel panels may be challenging if the existing colour is no longer available.
Likewise, maintaining heritage homes with traditional colour schemes could prove extremely problematic.
Even where the new Colorbond colour is similar subtle differences may be quite obvious across an extended area such as a roof.
Fortunately, Protective Roofing Supplies can supply steel products in all of the old discontinued Colorbond colours.
Colorguard is a superior Australian-made colour coating for steel and aluminium products.
It’s designed for the harsh Australian climate, and our Colorguard steel products have been proving their durability in residential and commercial buildings, industrial warehouses, and sports complexes across Australia.
Colorguard provides a superior climate barrier with exceptional substrate bonding. Colorguard also boasts a much more extensive colour range including all the old discontinued Colorbond colours.
In fact, with hundreds of colours to choose from (including any custom colour you require) you can really unleash your creative spark.

The colours BUSHLAND, WILDERNESS, SANDBANK, PLANTATION, WHEAT, STONE, and IRONBARK were renamed (see below) around 2011.
With the exception of Riversand there is now no equivalent in the Colorbond range.
BUSHLAND was renamed as TEA TREE and was only available for fencing.
WILDERNESS became WILLOW and was available for fencing only.
PLANTATION took the new name HEDGE and was available for fencing only.
WHEAT was renamed as HARVEST and was available for fencing only.
STONE became RIVER SAND and was available for fencing only.
Riversand is still available for fencing and is the only one of this group to retain its current name and form in the Colorbond range.
IRONBARK was rename as ESTATE and was available for fencing only.
SANDBANK, LOFT, and HEADLAND disappeared from the Colorbond range sometime around 2013.
Some suppliers still list these colour names but it always pays to check very carefully to verify that they are exactly the same shade.
These colours may also be available under other names with different paint suppliers. Please check the swatch number.
We can do extraordinary things with the Colorguard custom colour matching process but the reality is even with a perfect match there may be some visible differences due to uneven fading.
Fading due to U.V exposure can make colour matching extremely difficult if you are trying to match old fence panels for example.
Please also be aware that because of Colorguard’s advanced paint adherence and resilience the older painted surfaces will continue to age faster than the new Colorguard panels.
This may result in differences between old and new paint schemes becoming more apparent over time.
ColorProtect Keeps ColorGuard Looking Good

Advanced thermotechnology reduces the heat absorbed by Colorguard roofs.
